Decongestant D Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. this combination med is used to treat cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Decongestant D: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase your dose or take it more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass about water. don't crush or chew them. long action will be destroyed & chance of side effects will be increased.
Decongestant D side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur 1st several days as your body adjusts to the med. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your pharmacist if you develop any about these effects while taking this drug: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this med makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're physician or pharmacist.
Decongestant D Precautions: Tell you're healthcare professional some your medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with youre healthcare professional. since small amounts of this tablet found in breast milk, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Decongestant D med interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or pharmacist approval.
Decongestant D Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, & seizures.
Decongestant D special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Decongestant D dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if it is near clock for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Decongestant D Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
