Novahistine Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosen mucus. decongestant relieves nasal stuffiness. low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control a cough. this combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Novahistine: it medication is best taken with, or after, meal or snack. Take this drug as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Novahistine side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or anxiety may occur the 1'st several days as your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit some your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify you're physician if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping, hallucinations. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or healthcare professional.
Novahistine Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history of medication dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if it medication causes you to feel drowsy. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your healthcare professional promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. it product should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. at least one of the ingredients at this combination product is known to be excreted into breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Novahistine drug interactions: Tell youre doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure medications, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (e.g., selegiline, linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, tranylcypromine), cimetidine. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Novahistine Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slow or shallow breathing, slow heart rate, small pupils, severe drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
Novahistine special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Novahistine dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if this is near the time since the following dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Novahistine Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store at the bathroom.
