Shohl's Modified Usage: this medication makes urine less acidic. it is used at treatment of certain kidney disorders & gout.
How to use Shohl's Modified: this drug should be diluted in water before drinking to prevent stomach upset. Take prescribed dose & dilute it at at least 1/2 glass of water. Stir to mix & drink, following with additional water. it is usually taken after meals & at bedtime or as directed by you're pharmacist. Take this drug as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take this more often with out you're doctor's approval.
Shohl's Modified side effects: Notify you're physician if you develop: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fluid retention (water gain), convulsions, unusual weakness, mental confusion, tingling or numbness of hands or feet. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or doctor.
Shohl's Modified Precautions: Before using this medicine, tell you're doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney or heart disease, liver disease, Addison's disease, HBP, sodium- restricted diet, allergies (especially drug allergies). this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. it is not known if this pill is excreted into breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Shohl's Modified drug interactions: Tell your physician of every prescription & nonprescription pill you may use including: lithium, aspirin and NSAID (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), heart medicines, methenamine, tetracyclines, chlorpropamide, ephedrine or pseudoephedrine (may be found at many cough-and-cold products), azole antibiotics (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), all diet medicines. don't start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Shohl's Modified Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, & seizures.
Shohl's Modified special notes: While taking it medication, it may be necessary since you to test the pH (acidity) of you're urine using special paper. the pH will help determine the proper dose. do not share this medicine with others.
If you missed Shohl's Modified dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if It's near clock for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Shohl's Modified Storage: liquid may be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator, which will help improve flavor.
