Decongestant Usage: Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Decongestant: Take it medication as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsule dose forms must be swallowed whole.
Decongestant side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, nervousness, restlessness, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur first several days as your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform some your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, tremors, extreme nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre pharmacist or physician.
Decongestant Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, allergies (especially tablet allergies). check it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if this contains PPA or if you uncertain it product has PPA. it medication must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your physician. for small amounts of this drug are found in breast milk, consult you're healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Decongestant drug interactions: Tell youre doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may use, including: blood pressure tablets, drugs used to reduce weight, heart medication, drug that prevents drowsiness, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not use it product together with an MAO inhibitor, or for two weeks after stopping MAO inhibitor drug. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Decongestant Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, hyperactivity, slow or shallow breathing, blurred vision, or unconsciousness.
Decongestant special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Decongestant dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near clock since the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Decongestant Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
