Ibuprofen Infant Usage: Ibuprofen is nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which relieves pain and swelling (inflammation). it drug is used in children to reduce fever & to relieve minor aches and pain. this drug works by blocking enzyme in you're body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain, swelling, & fever. do not give it medication to a kid younger than 6 months of age unless directed to do so by the physician.
How to use Ibuprofen Infant: Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure out each dose carefully with the dropper provided. Give this pill by mouth with food or immediately after a meal as directed. Follow each dose with milk, juice, or formula. Keep the child from lying down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. dosage is based on your child's weight, medical condition, & response to therapy. Read the product instructions to find the appropriate dose for your child's weight, or consult the pharmacist or healthcare professional if you have questions. If repeat doses are needed, they usually given 6 or 8 hours apart; or as directed by doctor. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), this may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before the full benefits about this drug take effect. If you giving this medication to kid for undiagnosed fever or pain, consult doctor immediately if symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, worsen or last for more than 3 days, or if new symptoms appear.
Ibuprofen Infant side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & dizziness may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify doctor or physician promptly. Tell the doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of hands or feet, sudden or unexplained weight gain, ringing in ears (tinnitus). Tell the doctor immediately if any about these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, rapid or pounding heartbeat, easy bruising or bleeding. Tell the healthcare professional immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: change in amount of urine, severe headache, very stiff neck, mental/mood changes, persistent sore throat or fever. this drug may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen and consult the healthcare professional or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. this medication may rarely cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. If you notice any of the following highly unlikely but very serious side effects, stop giving ibuprofen and consult physician or pharmacist immediately: yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual/extreme tiredness. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact the doctor or pharmacist.
Ibuprofen Infant Precautions: this pill should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult pharmacist or healthcare professional if your child has: severe kidney disease, allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib). Before using this medication, tell the physician or pharmacist your child's medical history, especially of: kidney disease, liver disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure), high blood pressure, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, blood disorders (e.g., anemia), bleeding or clotting problems, asthma, growths at the nose (nasal polyps), history of an allergic reaction with symptoms of lip/tongue/throat swelling (angioedema), any allergies at addition to those listed above. this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake as it may intensify the side effects about this med. it medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps. Use sunscreen & wear protective clothing when outdoors. this product may contain sugar. Caution is advised if you have diabetes. Ask healthcare professional or pharmacist about safe use of this product. Caution is advised when using this drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to side effects of drug, especially stomach bleeding & kidney effects. this med should be used only when clearly needed during the first six months of pregnancy. Its not recommended for use during the last 3 months of pregnancy due to the potential for serious harm & interference with normal labor/delivery. Discuss risks & benefits with your pharmacist. this medication passes into breast milk. While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Ibuprofen Infant drug interactions: Before using this medication, tell doctor or pharmacist about every prescription and nonprescription products your child may use, especially of: alendronate, other drugs for arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), cyclosporine, high blood pressure drugs (including ACE inhibitors such as captopril, angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan, & beta-blockers such as metoprolol), lithium, other NSAIDs (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib), 'water pills' (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene). dollars all prescription & nonprescription medicine labels carefully since much of contain pain relievers/fever reducers (NSAIDs such as aspirin or naproxen) which are similar to this drug. Ask the pharmacist or physician about safe use of those goods. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Ibuprofen Infant Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, trouble breathing, extreme drowsiness, loss about consciousness, or seizures.

If you missed Ibuprofen Infant dose: If you prescribed it drug on regular schedule (not just 'as needed') and you miss dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is near time of the following dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Ibuprofen Infant Storage: Store at room temperature according to product directions away from light & moisture. don't store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
