Guaifenesin/decongestant/antihistamine - oral
Decon G Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and throat & itchy, watery eyes. this combination med is used to treat symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & another respiratory illnesses.
How to use Decon G: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often then directed. this drug is best taken with full glass of water after a meal or snack.
Decon G side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur first several days as youre body adjusts to pill. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify some your pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or healthcare professional.
Decon G Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, allergies (especially drug allergies). money it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your physician promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. since small amounts about this med found in breast milk, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Decon G drug interactions: Tell you're healthcare professional about any over-the-counter or prescription pill you may take, including: blood pressure meds, antidepressants, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic pain medications (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking it tablet. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Decon G Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in amount of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, unconsciousness, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, drowsiness, abnormal tongue movement, slurred speech, or seizures.
Decon G special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Decon G dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if It's near time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Decon G Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. don't store in bathroom.
