Decongestant/antihistamine/anticholinergic - oral

Mescolor Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and throat and itchy, watery eyes. Anticholinergics have drying effect on mucous secretions. it combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.

How to use Mescolor: Take this med as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. this drug is best taken with full glass of water after a meal or snack. Long-acting tablets and capsules must be swallowed whole. don't crush or chew them or long action may be destroyed & the chance of side effects increased.

Mescolor side effects: Dizziness, headache, loss about appetite, nausea, blurred vision, constipation or dry mouth, nose and eyes may occur 1'st several days as you're body adjusts to the medication. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform youre physician. Notify you're healthcare professional if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.

Mescolor Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: pre-existing kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, any allergies. check it product's ingredient list since phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your doctor promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. it med should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. for small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult some your physician before breast-feeding.

Mescolor drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take including: med for blood pressure, med for depression such as MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline). Tell you're pharmacist if you take medications that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines or tricyclics), anti- seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or physician approval.

Mescolor Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, headache, weakness, disorientation, hyperactivity, restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, fast breathing, fever, hot dry and flushed skin, seizures, or coma.

Mescolor special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

If you missed Mescolor dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take it if this is near time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

Mescolor Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
