Tussex Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tussex: this medication is best taken with full glass of water after a meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets & capsules whole. do not crush or chew them because long action will be destroyed and chance of side effects will be increased. Take this drug as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Tussex side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss about appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform you're doctor. Notify youre doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or doctor.
Tussex Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any med allergies. bucks this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your healthcare professional promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. it medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Tussex drug interactions: Tell you're healthcare professional of all prescription and nonprescription meds you use, especially: pill for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or doctor approval.
Tussex Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements about eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or quick heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Tussex special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Tussex dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the clock for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Tussex Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store at the bathroom.
