Tussend Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosen mucus. decongestant relieves nasal stuffiness. low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control a cough. this combination tablet is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tussend: this med is best taken with, or after, meal or snack. Take this drug as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Tussend side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or anxiety may occur 1st some days as your body adjusts to the drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your healthcare professional. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit some your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify youre pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your healthcare professional or doctor.
Tussend Precautions: Tell your physician if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history of drug dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. check it product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your physician promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this product should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your physician. at least one about ingredients in it combination product is known to be excreted into breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Tussend med interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take, including: blood pressure meds, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (e.g., selegiline, linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, tranylcypromine), cimetidine. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Tussend Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slow or shallow breathing, slow heart rate, small pupils, severe drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
Tussend special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Tussend dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if it is near time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Tussend Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store at bathroom.
