Expectorant/decongestant/narcotic antitussive liquid - oral
Cophene S Usage: it combination drug is used to treat dry cough & nasal congestion caused by common cold, flu, or other respiratory illness as determined by youre doctor. An expectorant loosens mucus in the lungs, while the decongestant works to relieve nasal congestion. low dose about narcotic cough suppressant works directly on brain to decrease urge to cough.
How to use Cophene S: Use this pill exactly as prescribed. do not increase your dose, take it more frequently or use this for longer period of time than prescribed because this drug can be habit-forming. If using this pill for an extended period of time, do not suddenly stop using this med with out consulting your physician. Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, drink plenty of fluids when you use this med. the fluid will help loosen phlegm/mucous in you're breathing passages. If your condition persists or worsens, be sure to contact your pharmacist or doctor.
Cophene S side effects: Nausea, nervousness or anxiety, headache, dizziness, drowsiness or trouble sleeping, vomiting, or constipation may may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify youre healthcare professional or doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: chest pain, rapid or pounding heartbeat, painful or difficult urination, tremors, mental/mood changes, slow or difficult breathing, seizure. An allergic reaction to this med is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Cophene S Precautions: it med shouldnot be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: uncontrolled severe high blood pressure, severe heart blood vessel disease (severe coronary artery disease), previous allergic reaction to codeine, hydrocodone or related drug. Before using this med, tell some your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart problems (e.g., cardiac arrhythmias), kidney disease, liver disease, lung problems (e.g., emphysema, asthma), HBP, thyroid disease (e.g., hyperthyroidism), diabetes, glaucoma, prostate problems, recent head injury, depression, seizures, history of drug abuse or dependency, any allergies. this med may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using this medication in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of drug, especially drowsiness and effect on heart. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. at least one ingredient at this product is known to be excreted in breast milk. Breast-feeding isnot recommended while taking it drug.
Cophene S medication interactions: Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) while using this medication or within two weeks (before or after) of treatment with it pill. in several cases serious, possibly death, drug interaction may occur. If you are currently using any of these pills, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting this tablet. Before using this pill, tell you're physician or healthcare professional of every prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially about: blood pressure medications (e.g., diuretics, veratrum alkaloids), antidepressants (e.g., tricyclics such as amitriptyline, nortriptyline), beta blockers (e.g., propranolol), methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine, cimetidine, bromocriptine, guanethidine, guanadrel. tablets that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep (e.g., sedatives), tranquilizers, anti-anxiety pills (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine). check labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold goods, or diet aids) because they can contain ingredients which can cause drowsiness, or increases in your blood pressure or heart rate. Ask you're pharmacist about the safe use about those products. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Cophene S Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: extreme tiredness, deep sleep, slowed breathing, fast/irregular heartbeat, cold or clammy skin, loss of consciousness.
Cophene S special notes: If your symptoms don't improve within 7 days or if you develop high fever or persistent headache, notify you're pharmacist promptly. don't share this drug with others.
If you missed Cophene S dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the following dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Cophene S Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from kid and pets.
