Baltussin Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. the low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control cough. antihistamine is since relief from sneezing, runny nose, water eyes. it combination product is used to treat symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, hay fever & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Baltussin: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase you're dose or take this more often than directed. it medication is best taken with full glass about water after a meal or snack.
Baltussin side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset or dry mouth may occur 1st several days as your body adjusts to medication. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're healthcare professional. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit some your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your physician if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Baltussin Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, hypertension, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history about drug dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your physician. since small amounts of this drug are found in breast milk, consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Baltussin drug interactions: Tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure pills, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping tablets, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine, narcotic pain drug (e.g., codeine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or doctor approval.
Baltussin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, weakness, profuse sweating, slow or quick heartbeat, slow or shallow breathing, hyperactivity, fever, seizures, or unconsciousness.
Baltussin special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this drug. this will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Baltussin dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near the clock for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Baltussin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
