Q Tussin DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. this combination drug is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Q Tussin DM: Take this drug as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take it more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with full glass of water. don't crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed and chance of side effects will be increased.
Q Tussin DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first several days as some your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform some your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these effects while taking it medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or physician.
Q Tussin DM Precautions: Tell you're doctor you're medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. for small amounts of this pill are found in breast milk, consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Q Tussin DM drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). don't start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.
Q Tussin DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.
Q Tussin DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this med. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Q Tussin DM dose: If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take this if this is near time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Q Tussin DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in bathroom.
