Nortuss D E Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination pill is used to treat cough and relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Nortuss D E: this medication is best taken with full glass of water after a meal or snack. Swallow long acting pills & capsules whole. don't crush or chew them because long action will be destroyed & chance about side effects will be increased. Take this drug as prescribed. do not increase youre dose or take this more many times than directed.
Nortuss D E side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your physician if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre physician or healthcare professional.
Nortuss D E Precautions: Tell your pharmacist youre medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any med allergies. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult youre physician promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with some your doctor. this medication may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Nortuss D E drug interactions: Tell your doctor of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you use, especially: drug for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or physician approval.
Nortuss D E Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or quick heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Nortuss D E special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Nortuss D E dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Nortuss D E Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
