    Alosetron - oral

    (al-oh-seh-tron)

    common brand names: Lotronex

    Warning: Alosetron has rarely caused serious, rarely fatal intestinal side effects including constipation & ischemic colitis. this med must only be used at women with severe cases of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) where major symptom is diarrhea. If you experience constipation, new or worsening bowel pains, or blood in your diarrhea or stool, stop taking it med & contact your physician immediately. Before your physician can prescribe this drug since you, you're physician must have completed Prescribing Program for Lotronex (PPL). Only carefully selected patients may use this drug. Consult your doctor or healthcare professional for more information about risks & benefits of using this medication.

    Lotronex Usage: this drug is used to treat severe cases about irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in women who have diarrhea as major symptom. Alosetron isnt effective in men with IBS.

    How to use Lotronex: Read and complete the Patient-Physician Agreement form provided by some your pharmacist. Also, be sure to get medication next information from your doctor, and then read it carefully. you're prescription must have a sticker affixed to it in order since your pharmacy to dispense you supply of it medicine. Take it med by mouth, initially one time daily with or with-out food. don't begin this medication if you currently constipated. Contact your healthcare professional for further instructions.

    Lotronex side effects: Headache, stomach upset, or hemorrhoids may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify some your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: bloating, depression. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects: constipation, bloody stools, unexplained fever, unusually quick pulse, new or sudden worsening of stomach/abdominal/bowel pain. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.

    Lotronex Precautions: it medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult some your doctor or pharmacist if you have: certain intestinal disorders (e.g., ileus, ischemic colitis, impaired intestinal circulation, constipation or Its complications, obstruction, megacolon, stricture/adhesions, or perforation), Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, blood disorders (e.g., history of blood clots). Before using this pill, tell your pharmacist youre medical history, including: liver disease, allergies. Caution is advised when using this medication in elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of constipation if it occurs. this pill should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. it isn't known whether this drug passes in to breast milk. Consult you're physician before breast-feeding.

    Lotronex drug interactions: Tell some your healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription medication you may use, especially of: isoniazid, procainamide, hydralazine. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.

    Lotronex Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include difficulty breathing, loss of coordination, tremors, & seizures.

    Lotronex special notes: do not share it tablet with others.

    If you missed Lotronex dose: If you miss dose, use this as soon as you remember. If It's near time of following dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

    Lotronex Storage: Store at room temperature, 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), away from light & moisture. Brief storage between 59 & 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is permitted.
