Warning: it medication has been shown to increase rate of bone tumors (osteosarcoma) in animal (rat) studies. it occurred at doses higher than normal person dose of teriparatide. Because It's unknown if this means theyre is higher risk of bone tumors in humans, teriparatide should only be used in patients for whom the potential benefit outweighs potential risk. Teriparatide should not be used in patients at an increased risk of developing this type of tumor (e.g., patients with Paget's disease, unexplained elevations of alkaline phosphatase, open epiphyses, or prior radiation therapy involving skeleton).
Forteo Usage: this drug is used in girl after menopause and in men to treat bone weakening (osteoporosis). it is used in patients who in high risk of having fractures, have had fractures, or who cann't use another osteoporosis treatments. Teriparatide is man-made (synthetic) form of active episode about natural hormone called parathyroid hormone. this acts by increasing bone mass & bone strength, thereby decreasing chance of getting fracture.
How to use Forteo: Read medication info provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions regarding information, ask your doctor or healthcare professional. this drug is provided in pen device for injection of medication. manual is provided with instructions on proper way to prepare & inject this drug. Ask your pharmacist, nurse, or pharmacist any questions you may have about giving yourself shots. Inject this tablet under skin (subcutaneously) into the thigh or abdominal wall usually as single daily dose or as directed by your pharmacist. Use a new needle with each dose. Learn how to store & discard needles properly. some patients get dizzy or get fast heartbeat after 1'st few doses about teriparatide. for the 1st few doses, inject it medication where you can sit or lie down right away if you get dizzy or have a fast heartbeat. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If present, do not use liquid. Use this drug regularly in order to get the most benefit from this. To help you remember, use this at same time each day.
Forteo side effects: Dizziness or leg cramps may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist or pharmacist promptly. Tell some your healthcare professional immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: chest pain (angina), nausea, vomiting, constipation, sluggishness, muscle weakness. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. If you missed Forteo dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If this is near clock of the next dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Forteo Storage: Refrigerate between 36 and 46 degrees F (2-8 degrees C) away from light & moisture. it drug may be injected immediately after removing from refrigerator. Recap pen when not in use. do not freeze. do not use it medication if it has been frozen. Each pen may be used for up to 28 days after the first injection. After 28 days about use, discard the pen, even if it still contains unused solution. Keep every medicines away from kid & pets.
