    Albendazole - oral

    (al-ben-duh-zole)

    common brand names: Albenza

    Albenza Usage: this med is used to treat tapeworm infection (e.g., hydatid disease).

    Albenza can be used also for: it medication may also be used to treat other parasite infections.

    How to use Albenza: Take this tablet by mouth, generally given twice daily with meals, or as directed by your doctor. Be sure to take other tablets, if prescribed, for your condition.

    Albenza side effects: this drug may cause dizziness, headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, or temporary hair loss. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician promptly. Very unlikely, but report promptly: persistent sore throat or fever, severe headache, seizures, vision problems, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, simple bruising, mental/mood changes, very stiff neck, change in amount of urine. in unlikely series you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to this drug include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or healthcare professional.

    Albenza Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional you're medical history, including any allergies you may have. Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate certain side effects about it drug. Caution is advised when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving). this med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. it may cause fetal harm. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor, as well as use of reliable birth control methods during & for one month after treatment. Inform your doctor immediately should you become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. It's unknown if it pill is excreted into breast milk Consult your physician before breast-feeding.

    Albenza tablet interactions: Tell your doctor of every nonprescription & prescription medication you may use, especially: dexamethasone, praziquantel, cimetidine, theophylline. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or healthcare professional approval.

    Albenza Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

    Albenza special notes: don't share it medication with others. this medication has been prescribed since you're current condition only. do not use this later for another infection (unless told to do so by your doctor). different medication may be necessary in those cases. Laboratory tests (including pregnancy tests) will be performed before and/or during treatment with it medication.

    If you missed Albenza dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near time about next dose, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.

    Albenza Storage: Store at room temperature between 68 & 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C) away from light & moisture.
