Guaifenesin/dextromethorphan/decongestant - oral
Guaimist DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination drug is used to treat a cough & relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Guaimist DM: this medication is best taken with full glass of water after a meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets & capsules whole. do not crush or chew them because the long action will be destroyed & the chance about side effects will be increased. Take this med as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Guaimist DM side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform you're pharmacist. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Guaimist DM Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any drug allergies. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your physician promptly if it contains PPA or if you uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. this drug may be excreted into breast milk. Consult some your doctor before breast-feeding.
Guaimist DM drug interactions: Tell youre pharmacist about all prescription & nonprescription medications you use, especially: medication for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit you're intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.
Guaimist DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Guaimist DM special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking it drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Guaimist DM dose: If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near the clock for following dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Guaimist DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in bathroom.
