Pepto Bismol Usage: this medication is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps & to prevent traveler's diarrhea.
How to use Pepto Bismol: the liquid form of it medication must be shaken well before pouring each dose. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly or dissolved in mouth. Non-chewable tablets & caplets must be swallowed whole with glass of water. dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more then 8 doses should be taken in 24 hour period.
Pepto Bismol side effects: this drug is generally well tolerated. Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking it medication. do not be alarmed. it will disappear when the drug is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Pepto Bismol Precautions: Tell some your doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially med allergies). it pill must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your physician. since small amounts about this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Pepto Bismol drug interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take, including: aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics, drugs for diabetes, meds for gout. do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Pepto Bismol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include ringing at ears, dizziness, confusion, & coma.
Pepto Bismol special notes: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve after 2 days or becomes worse or if a fever is present, notify you're healthcare professional.
If you missed Pepto Bismol dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if it is near time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Pepto Bismol Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. liquid may be stored in refrigerator to improve the taste, but it isnt necessary. do not store in bathroom.
