Castor Oil Usage: Irritant or stimulant laxatives used to treat constipation & to clear intestine before rectal or bowel examinations.
How to use Castor Oil: Take each dose with a full glass of water or juice & drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Chewable tablets are to be chewed thoroughly. meds to be swallowed whole with full glass of water. Wafers to be chewed. Laxatives shouldn't be used in persons experiencing stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting.
Castor Oil side effects: this drug may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps or bloating. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your healthcare professional if you experience: rectal bleeding, rapid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation. this drug may cause urine to turn pink, red or brownish at color. do not be alarmed. Its not harmful. Prolonged, frequent or excessive use of laxatives may lead to dependency. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or pharmacist.
Castor Oil Precautions: Tell your doctor youre medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, HBP, swelling (edema), any allergies (especially to tartrazine). Castor oil is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Bulk producing laxatives are an alternative. Discuss risks & benefits with you're doctor. Consult your healthcare professional before using any medication while breast-feeding.
Castor Oil drug interactions: Because laxatives may interfere with absorption of some medications, it is important to tell youre doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Avoid use of dairy products or antacids within one hour about taking bisacodyl pills. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Castor Oil Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness, lack of feeling alert, or dry gums & eyes.
Castor Oil special notes: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to six eight ounce glasses a day), increase your intake about fiber & roughage & exercise regularly.
If you missed Castor Oil dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if Its near the time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
