    Guaifenesin with hydrocodone - oral

    (gweye-fen-eh-sin with hi-droh-koh-doan)

    common brand names: Atuss EX, Cotuss-V, Entuss, Vortex

    G Tuss Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Hydrocodone is a narcotic pain reliever in a low-dose which suppresses cough. this combination pill is used to treat cough & symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use G Tuss: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more many times than directed. it medication is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack.

    G Tuss side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, constipation, nausea or stomach upset may occur the first some days as your body adjusts to medication. If any about these effects continue or become bothersome, inform you're healthcare professional. Notify you're physician if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, mental confusion, hallucinations, breathing trouble. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact some your physician or pharmacist.

    G Tuss Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, emotional problems, history of medication dependency, allergies (especially medication allergies). Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. this tablet should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your pharmacist. since small amounts of it drug found in breast milk, consult your physician before breast-feeding.

    G Tuss drug interactions: Tell you're pharmacist of every over-the-counter & prescription med you may take, including: blood pressure pills, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, cimetidine. Limit youre intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

    G Tuss Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slowed breathing, drowsiness, deep sleep or loss of consciousness, cold & clammy skin, dry mouth, & slow pulse.

    G Tuss special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

    If you missed G Tuss dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if It's near time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.

    G Tuss Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
