Decongestant/narcotic antitussive/antihistamine - oral
Hist PLUS Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. the low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control a cough. antihistamine is for relief from sneezing, runny nose, water eyes. it combination product is used to treat symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, hay fever & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Hist PLUS: Take this medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. this medication is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack.
Hist PLUS side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset or dry mouth may occur 1st few days as your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your pharmacist. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit youre intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify you're doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, hypertension, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, breathing trouble. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Hist PLUS Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, a history of medication dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. cash this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if this contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with you're doctor. since small amounts about this medication are found in breast milk, consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Hist PLUS medication interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping tablets, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine, narcotic pain drug (e.g., codeine). Limit you're intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or healthcare professional approval.
Hist PLUS Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, weakness, profuse sweating, slow or fast heartbeat, slow or shallow breathing, hyperactivity, fever, seizures, or unconsciousness.
Hist PLUS special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Hist PLUS dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if it is near the time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Hist PLUS Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. do not store in the bathroom.
