Guaifenesin/decongestant/narcotic antitussive liquid - oral
Phenhist Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosen mucus. the decongestant relieves nasal stuffiness. the low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control a cough. this combination drug is used to treat cough and relieve symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Phenhist: this medication is best taken with, or after, meal or snack. Take this med as prescribed. do not increase you're dose or take this more often then directed.
Phenhist side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or anxiety may occur the 1st several days as your body adjusts to drug. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your physician. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify your pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping, hallucinations. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or physician.
Phenhist Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, a history of drug dependency, any allergies. Phenhist drug interactions: Tell your doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription pill you may take, including: blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (e.g., selegiline, linezolid, furazolidone, phenelzine, tranylcypromine), cimetidine. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or healthcare professional approval.
Phenhist Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include slow or shallow breathing, slow heart rate, small pupils, severe drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
Phenhist special notes: Drink plenty about fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Phenhist dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take this if this is near time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Phenhist Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
