Diltiazem Er Usage: Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker. Calcium is involved in blood vessel contraction & in controlling electrical impulses within the heart. By blocking calcium, diltiazem relaxes and widens blood vessels & can normalize heartbeats. Diltiazem is used to treat chest pain (angina) or high blood pressure.
Diltiazem Er can be used also for: it medication may also be used to treat irregular heartbeats.
How to use Diltiazem Er: the capsule must be taken on an empty stomach once per day in morning. Swallow whole. don't open, chew or crush capsule. don't stop taking this medication suddenly with out you're doctor's permission. your dose may need to be gradually decreased.
Diltiazem Er side effects: it drug may cause dizziness & lightheadedness especially during the first few days. Avoid activities requiring alertness. When you sit or lie down for a while, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust and minimize dizziness. You may also experience bloating, heartburn, muscle cramps, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, sore throat, constipation or diarrhea. Inform your physician if they become bothersome. Notify you're healthcare professional if you develop: breathing difficulties, swelling of the hands or feet, an irregular heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or physician.
Diltiazem Er Precautions: Tell you're doctor if you have: heart problems, kidney problems, liver problems, allergies (especially drug allergies). Avoid alcohol while taking this med. this drug has not been extensively studied in pregnant or nursing women. Be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Diltiazem Er medication interactions: Tell youre healthcare professional about every prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially about: cyclosporine, flecainide, lithium, beta-blockers (e.g., atenolol, propranolol), intravenous (IV) calcium, timolol ophthalmic, digoxin, disopyramide, HBP medication, benzodiazepines (e.g., midazolam, triazolam), buspirone, lovastatin, quinidine, carbamazepine, rifampin, cimetidine, St John's wort. Avoid any drugs that increase your heart rate (the decongestants phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine & phenylpropanolamine examples). These drugs commonly found at over-the-counter cough-and-cold products. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Diltiazem Er Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, weakness, slowed or irregular heartbeat, nausea, drowsiness, confusion, & slurred speech.
Diltiazem Er special notes: don't share this product with others.
If you missed Diltiazem Er dose: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; don't take if It's almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Diltiazem Er Storage: Store at room temperature away from sunlight & moisture.
