Decongestant/narcotic antitussive/antihistamine - oral
Hist HC Usage: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. the low-dose narcotic antitussive helps control cough. the antihistamine is for relief from sneezing, runny nose, water eyes. this combination product is used to treat symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, hay fever & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Hist HC: Take this drug as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. this drug is best taken with full glass about water after meal or snack.
Hist HC side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset or dry mouth may occur 1st some days as your body adjusts to medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Notify youre pharmacist if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're healthcare professional or doctor.
Hist HC Precautions: Tell you're physician if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, history of drug dependency, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this drug causes you to feel drowsy. money this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain it product has PPA. this medication must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with you're doctor. since small amounts about this drug found in breast milk, consult youre pharmacist before breast-feeding.
Hist HC drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: blood pressure meds, antidepressants, sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine, narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine). Limit you're intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this med. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Hist HC Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, headache, dizziness, weakness, profuse sweating, slow or fast heartbeat, slow or shallow breathing, hyperactivity, fever, seizures, or unconsciousness.
Hist HC special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it drug. this will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Hist HC dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near clock for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Hist HC Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
