    Guaifenesin with dextromethorphan - oral

    (gweye-fen-eh-sin with dex-trow-meth-or-fan)

    Cough Control DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. it combination med is used to treat cough associated with the common cold, allergies & other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use Cough Control DM: Take it medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instructions closely. don't increase your dose or take it more often than directed. Capsules & long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with full glass about water. do not crush or chew them. the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased.

    Cough Control DM side effects: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify you're physician if you develop any of these effects while taking this drug: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use caution driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you feel dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.

    Cough Control DM Precautions: Tell your doctor youre medical history, especially of: lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. it tablet should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. since small amounts of this drug found in breast milk, consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

    Cough Control DM medication interactions: Tell you're doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). do not start or stop any medicine with out doctor or pharmacist approval.

    Cough Control DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.

    Cough Control DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

    If you missed Cough Control DM dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if It's near the clock for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume some your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Cough Control DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store at the bathroom.
