Warning: Tamoxifen rarely may cause serious (possibly fatal) side effects. These include cancer about uterus (endometrial cancer & uterine sarcoma), as well as strokes & blood clots in the lung (pulmonary emboli). Tell some your physician immediately if you develop: abnormal vaginal bleeding, irregular or abnormal menstrual periods, groin pain or pressure, chest pain, trouble breathing, one-sided weakness. Tamoxifen Citrate Usage: Tamoxifen is a drug that blocks the action of hormone estrogen. it is used in the treatment and prevention about breast cancer in women.
Tamoxifen Citrate can be used also for: this pill may also be used short-term (less than one year) to treat girls age 2 -10 years of age who have premature puberty (McCune-Albright Syndrome).
How to use Tamoxifen Citrate: Take it drug by mouth exactly as prescribed for the full treatment period. Read medication following guide provided by your pharmacist. Consult some your pharmacist or pharmacist if you have any questions.
Tamoxifen Citrate side effects: Nausea, hot flashes, weight gain or headache may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify you're doctor promptly. Report promptly: abnormal vaginal bleeding or irregular periods, vaginal discharge, groin pain, vision changes. Unlikely but report promptly: vomiting, rash. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: dark urine, yellowing eyes & skin, simple bruising, persistent sore throat, fever, mental or mood changes, trouble breathing, unusual tiredness, leg pain or swelling, dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Tamoxifen Citrate Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially about: eye problems, blood disorders, cancers, liver disease, allergies (especially drug allergies). Use reliable birth control (e.g., proven barrier methods) during treatment & since in least two months after treatment. Consult your doctor or physician. this pill isn't recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your healthcare professional before using this pill. It's not known if it drug is excreted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult youre healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Tamoxifen Citrate medication interactions: this drug is not recommended for use with mibefradil or letrozole. Ask your doctor or doctor for more details. Tell your doctor or pharmacist of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: warfarin, rifampin, St. John's wort. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Tamoxifen Citrate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include shakiness, dizziness, fainting, & irregular heartbeat.
Tamoxifen Citrate special notes: Keep every physician and lab visits (e.g., yearly pelvic/gynecology exams) because it is important to have your progress monitored.
If you missed Tamoxifen Citrate dose: If you miss dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
