Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory meds (nsaid) - oral
Oxaprozin Usage: this drug is used to treat pain & reduce inflammation. It's used to treat headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or athletic injuries. few NSAIDs are also used to reduce fever.
How to use Oxaprozin: Take this drug by mouth with a full glass (8oz or 240ml) of water unless your healthcare professional directs you otherwise. the dosage is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. If stomach upset occurs while taking this med, take this with food, milk, or an antacid. do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this medication. in certain conditions (e.g., arthritis), this may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. If you use this for migraine headache, & pain is not relieved or this worsens after first dose, seek immediate doctor attention.
Oxaprozin side effects: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, & unusual fatigue may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify you're doctor. Tell you're pharmacist immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling about feet or ankles, ringing in ears (tinnitus). Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, joint pain, muscle pain or weakness, easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat & fever. Tell your physician immediately if any about these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: changes in amount or color of urine, yellowing of eyes or skin. If you notice any of the following unlikely but serious side effects, stop taking this medication & consult youre healthcare professional or healthcare professional immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. An allergic reaction to this medication is unlikely, but seek immediate healthcare attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre healthcare professional or physician.
Oxaprozin Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, liver problems, stomach problems (e.g., ulcers), heart disease (e.g., arrhythmias, heart failure), high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, blood problems (e.g., anemia, bleeding disorders, porphyria), asthma, nasal polyps, eye problems, severe or long-lasting headaches, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib). this drug may make you dizzy or drowsy. Use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this drug may make you more sensitive to sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, use sunscreen, & wear protective clothing when outdoors. it medicine may cause stomach bleeding. daily use of alcohol and this medicine may increase youre risk for stomach bleeding. Caution is advised when using this medication in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of drug. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your pharmacist. Using this drug during the last 6 months of pregnancy is not recommended. it tablet may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Oxaprozin drug interactions: Tell some your physician about every prescription & nonprescription medication you may use, especially: 'blood thinners' (e.g., warfarin), other drugs since arthritis (e.g., aspirin, methotrexate), 'water pills' (diuretics), lithium, anti- ulcer medication (e.g., cimetidine), high blood pressure medication such as ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, lisinopril), & beta-blockers (e.g., metoprolol, propranolol), probenecid, phenytoin, cyclosporine, sulfa drugs, medicine since diabetes (e.g., glipizide, glyburide), alendronate. check labels on all your medicines because they may contain aspirin or other aspirin-like NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen). Ask youre pharmacist about safe use of those products. do not start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or doctor approval.
Oxaprozin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, dark stool, ringing in ears, change in amount of urine, unusually quick or slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, slow or shallow breathing, confusion, severe headache or loss of consciousness.
Oxaprozin special notes: do not share it medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress.
If you missed Oxaprozin dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near the clock of the following dose, skip missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Oxaprozin Storage: Store at room temperature between 36 & 86 degrees F (2 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
