Chlorhexidine Gluconate Usage: this drug is a mouth rinse that kills bacteria. It's used to treat redness, swelling & bleeding of inflamed gums (gingivitis).
How to use Chlorhexidine Gluconate: this medication is best started after thorough teeth cleaning by dentist or dental hygienist. this medication is used as an oral rinse usually in the morning and evening after brushing teeth. Measure out proper dose as directed, then swish it around in mouth for 30 seconds or as directed. then spit out. don't swallow the drug. do not rinse mouth, brush teeth or eat immediately after using this drug.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate side effects: this drug can cause staining about the teeth or tongue. the stains can be removed by your dentist. Changes at taste, mouth irritation or mouth sores may occur. If it tablet is accidentally swallowed, stomach upset or nausea may occur. in unlikely episode you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms may include trouble breathing, rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate Precautions: Before using this drug, tell your caregiver youre medical/dental history including: any medication allergies. Tell your caregiver if you are pregnant before using this drug. it is not known if it medication is excreted into breast milk. Consult youre caregiver before breast-feeding. this med is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate drug interactions: Even though it med isn't meant to be swallowed & no interactions would be expected, tell your caregiver of every prescription & nonprescription medications you use. don't start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slurred speech, sleepiness, & stumbling or staggering walk.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate special notes: Dental checkups are recommended every 6 months. don't share it medication with others.
If you missed Chlorhexidine Gluconate dose: Use any missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for following dose. If It's time for next dose, skip missed dose & resume youre regular schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate Storage: Store at room temperature below 77 degrees F (below 25 degrees C). do not freeze.
