Guaif Phenylphrine HCL Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous & congestion. Phenylephrine is decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. it combination tablet is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory tract illness.
How to use Guaif Phenylphrine HCL: Take this medication by mouth. pills must be swallowed whole. do not crush or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, it may be taken with food or milk. Take this drug as directed. don't increase the dose or take this more often or longer than prescribed. it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses day) to help relieve congestion.
Guaif Phenylphrine HCL side effects: Nausea, stomach upset, loss about appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur 1-st several days as your body adjusts to the drug. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your pharmacist. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid heart rate, anxiety, fear, difficult or painful urination, difficulty sleeping. Because it med can cause dizziness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness & avoid consuming alcohol which can aggravate this effect. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or pharmacist.
Guaif Phenylphrine HCL Precautions: Tell youre pharmacist if you have: pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, emphysema, HBP, overactive thyroid, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, history of seizures. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risk & benefits with your pharmacist. it is not known if this drug appears in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Guaif Phenylphrine HCL med interactions: Tell some your healthcare professional of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: sleeping meds, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, drug for depression, medication for hypertension. Tell your healthcare professional if you have, in the last two weeks, taken any MAO inhibitors: furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, linezolid. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.
Guaif Phenylphrine HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually quick or slow heartbeat, numbness of the fingers, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or seizures.

If you missed Guaif Phenylphrine HCL dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Guaif Phenylphrine HCL Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in bathroom.
