Etodolac Usage: Etodolac is used to treat pain & swelling associated with conditions such as arthritis, bursitis & tendonitis.
How to use Etodolac: Take exactly as directed to minimize risk of side effects. Take with food. Swallow tablets whole. do not crush or chew them. this medication is usually taken once daily. Take this medication with 6 to 8 ounces (180-240ml) of water. do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug. at arthritis, it may take one to 2 weeks before the full effects about it medication are noted. for best results, it should be taken regularly as directed by youre doctor.
Etodolac side effects: much side effects observed are mild & usually disappear after short clock. Diarrhea, gas, constipation, upset stomach or headache may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your pharmacist. Unlikely but report promptly: vision changes, yellowing of skin or eyes, fever, mood changes, dizziness, ringing in ears. Very unlikely but report: unusual bleeding or bruising, persistent sore throat, unusual change in urine amount. If you notice any of the following unlikely but very serious side effects, stop taking it drug & consult you're doctor or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. at unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or healthcare professional.
Etodolac Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver or kidney disease, blood disorders, ulcers, heart disease, alcohol use, high blood pressure, eye disease, asthma, nasal polyps, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.g., ibuprofen, celecoxib). Use caution when performing tasks requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake as this may intensify drowsiness effect of this medication. this medicine may cause stomach bleeding. daily use about alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. check with your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Infrequently, this medication may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. If it happens to you, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear protective clothing & use sunscreen. Avoid sunlamps. Caution is advised when this drug is used in the elderly. this medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. Use about this tablet in the last 6 months about pregnancy is not recommended. this is unknown if etodolac is excreted at to breast milk. Consult your physician before breast-feeding.
Etodolac medication interactions: Tell your healthcare professional or pharmacist of every the other tablets you take (both prescription & nonprescription), especially of: blood thinners (warfarin), other arthritis meds, meds used for inflammation (including aspirin), methotrexate, water meds, digoxin, lithium, cyclosporine. do not take aspirin without consulting your doctor. check ingredients of every nonprescription meds you may be taking since many cough-and-cold formulas contain aspirin. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or physician approval.
Etodolac Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain, coffee ground-like vomit, dark stool, ringing at the ears, change in amount of urine, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, slow or shallow breathing, confusion, severe headache or loss of consciousness.
Etodolac special notes: do not allow anyone else to use this drug. your doctor may monitor kidney, liver & blood cell test periodically. False-positive results for urine tests (bilirubin & ketones) may occur when taking etodolac.
If you missed Etodolac dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered but not if It's almost time for next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Etodolac Storage: Store it medication in controlled room temperature between 68 to 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from heat, light & moisture. don't store at bathroom.
