    Loracarbef - oral

    (lor-uh-kar-beff)

    common brand names: Lorabid

    Lorabid Usage: Loracarbef is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat wide variety of bacterial infections.

    How to use Lorabid: this drug should be taken on an empty stomach, in least 1 hour before or two hours after eating. liquid suspension form of it medication must be shaken well before using. this does not have to be refrigerated. Discard any unused portion after 14 days because medication loses potency.

    Lorabid side effects: this drug may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss about appetite, nausea, vomiting, & headache. If they continue or become severe, inform youre pharmacist promptly. Report promptly: nervousness, insomnia, dizziness. Unlikely to occur but report: fever, easy bleeding or bruising, a change in amount of urine, seizures. Notify your doctor immediately if an allergic reaction occurs while taking this medication. Symptoms include: difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, itching. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact youre pharmacist or pharmacist.

    Lorabid Precautions: Tell your pharmacist about any allergies you have especially to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, other antibiotics or another medications. Tell your physician if you have history of: kidney disease, colitis or other stomach problems. Use of it medication since prolonged or repeated periods may result at secondary infection (e.g., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). this drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. since small amounts of this pill are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Lorabid drug interactions: Tell your doctor about any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: probenecid, blood thinners, other antibiotics, live vaccines. Diabetics should be aware this medication can cause false positive urine glucose tests. talk to some your doctor or doctor about alternative way to monitor your sugar levels. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or healthcare professional approval.

    Lorabid Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, & stomach upset.

    Lorabid special notes: this med has been prescribed for your current condition only. do not use this later for another infection or give it to someone else. different drug may be necessary.

    If you missed Lorabid dose: If you should miss dose, take it as soon as remembered unless It's almost time for the following dose. If Its nearly clock since the next dose, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' dose.

    Lorabid Storage: Store capsules & liquid suspension at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (between 15 & 30 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. don't store in the bathroom. check the expiration date on liquid suspension & discard any unused medication after that date.
