Metoclopramide HCL Usage: Metoclopramide is used for nausea, vomiting, heartburn, loss about appetite, bloating & gastric reflux.
How to use Metoclopramide HCL: this drug is injected into vein (IV) or into muscle (IM) as directed by your healthcare professional. dosage depends on your condition & response to medication. Metoclopramide works best when used 30 minutes before meal. do not use this more often or in larger doses than prescribed by your doctor.
Metoclopramide HCL side effects: Nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, restlessness or sleeplessness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform youre doctor. Notify your physician if you experience: uncontrolled movements about the face/eyes or limbs, muscle spasms, trembling of the hands, any personality changes (such as depression). in the unlikely chapter you have an allergic reaction to this medication, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Metoclopramide HCL Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially about: adrenal tumors, seizure disorders, Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, mental conditions/depression, stomach/intestinal problems (e.g., bleeds or blockages), diabetes, asthma, any allergies. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery if this drug makes you drowsy. Alcoholic beverages can add to the drowsiness effect caused by it med. Avoid alcohol while using this medication. Tell youre physician if you are pregnant before using this drug. Metoclopramide is excreted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.
Metoclopramide HCL drug interactions: Tell you're pharmacist of every medicines you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially: cimetidine, insulin, cabergoline, cyclosporine, digoxin, levodopa, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Tell your physician if you take any drugs that make you drowsy such as: narcotic pain med (e.g., codeine), tranquilizers, sleep medicine, antidepressants, drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), sedatives, alcoholic beverages. Before having surgery with a general anesthetic, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist you use metoclopramide. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Metoclopramide HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, disorientation, twitching of the face or tongue, loss of balance, uncontrolled movements of arms and legs, & difficulty speaking & swallowing.

If you missed Metoclopramide HCL dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if It's almost time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not 'double- up' dose to catch up.
Metoclopramide HCL Storage: Store undiluted doses at room temperature between 68 and 78 degrees F (between 20 and 25 degrees C) away from moisture & sunlight. do not store in the bathroom. one time diluted, doses must be used within 24 hours. Discard after 24 hours. do not save for later use because they contain no preservatives.
