    Sulfacetamide sodium foam - topical

    (sull-fuh-seet-uh-mide so-dee-um)

    common brand names: Ovace

    Ovace Usage: this medication is used to treat dandruff and other skin conditions (e.g., seborrheic dermatitis). it is also used to treat certain bacterial skin infections associated with these conditions.

    How to use Ovace: this medication is since use on skin only. Avoid getting any of this medication in the eyes, nose, or mouth. Use twice daily since 8 to 10 days or as directed by your pharmacist. If you are applying the drug to scalp, youre hair should be towel-dried or dry before use. Shake can well before use. Turn can upside down to deliver a very small amount of medication onto you're hand. Gently massage the drug with your fingers into the affected area until foam disappears, allowing the area to air dry. Wash your hands after applying foam. do not wash the treated area immediately after applying the foam. You may use hair styling products after the foam has been applied. As you're condition improves, your physician may direct you to continue treatment less frequently to keep this under control (once/twice weekly or every other week). If youre condition does not improve or worsens after two weeks, contact your doctor for further instructions. this medication is flammable. Avoid fire, flame, or smoking during use. To help you remember, use this med at same times each day.

    Ovace side effects: this medication may cause irritation, stinging, or burning of the skin. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify some your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: joint pain, butterfly-shaped rash around nose & cheeks, fever, mouth sores. An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if this occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, high fever, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact you're healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Ovace Precautions: Before using this medication, tell your healthcare professional or pharmacist you're medical history, especially of: any allergies (especially to sulfa drugs such as sulfamethoxazole). it med should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with you're pharmacist. it isn't known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Ovace medication interactions: this drug should not be used with the following medications because this can decrease effectiveness of: preparations containing silver. If you currently using any about these drugs, tell your doctor or pharmacist before using sodium sulfacetamide. Before using this medication, tell youre doctor or pharmacist of every prescription & nonprescription products you may use, especially about: another skin goods for your condition. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.

    Ovace Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. it tablet may be harmful if swallowed. If swallowed, you may experience symptoms such as: nausea, vomiting, & pink/red urine.

    Ovace special notes: do not share this medication with others.

    If you missed Ovace dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as you remember. If It's near the clock of the following dose, skip the missed dose and resume youre usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.

    Ovace Storage: Store at room temperature between 68 & 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. do not expose to heat or store at temperatures above 104 degrees F (40 degrees C). Keep all medicines away from child & pets.
