Loperamide HCL Usage: this medication is used to treat diarrhea or to reduce amount about discharge in patients who have undergone an ileostomy.
How to use Loperamide HCL: Take this med by mouth exactly as directed. don't increase you're dose or take this longer then two days with-out your doctor's approval. Notify your doctor if diarrhea does not stop after 2 days. While taking this drug, drink plenty of clear liquids to replace fluid loss from diarrhea and prevent dehydration.
Loperamide HCL side effects: Stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, bloating, dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact youre physician promptly. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. Tell your doctor immediately if you have this unlikely but serious side effect: stomach pain. An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial doctor attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact you're doctor or physician.
Loperamide HCL Precautions: Tell some your doctor if you have: recently taken antibiotics, any allergies. this pill may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging at activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcohol intake because this can intensify dizziness or drowsiness effects about this medication. Use it tablet cautiously at children. it pill should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. It's not known if this med appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Loperamide HCL tablet interactions: Tell youre pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: cholestyramine. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Loperamide HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, slowed breathing, drowsiness or deep sleep, & slow pulse.
Loperamide HCL special notes: this medication is available without prescription. However, there is capsule form that requires a prescription. do not use this for longer than two days with out notifying your pharmacist. Consult youre doctor before treating children under 6 years of age.
If you missed Loperamide HCL dose: Take each dose as directed. If you miss dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take it if It's near the time for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Loperamide HCL Storage: Store this drug at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 & 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. it may be refrigerated to improve the flavor. do not store in bathroom. Keep it & all medications out of reach about children.
