Kaopectate Usage: this pill is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps and to prevent traveler's diarrhea.

How to use Kaopectate: liquid form of this pill must be shaken well before pouring each dose. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly or dissolved at the mouth. Non-chewable tablets & caplets must be swallowed whole with a glass of water. the dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more than 8 doses should be taken in a 24 hour period.

Kaopectate side effects: this pill is generally well tolerated. Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking this medication. do not be alarmed. this will disappear when pill is stopped. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or healthcare professional.

Kaopectate Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional if you have: another illnesses, allergies (especially drug allergies). it medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with youre physician. since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Kaopectate drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take, including: aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics, meds for diabetes, medications since gout. do not start or stop any medicine with out physician or healthcare professional approval.

Kaopectate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include ringing at ears, dizziness, confusion, & coma.

Kaopectate special notes: If condition since which this was prescribed does not improve after 2 days or becomes worse or if a fever is present, notify your physician.

If you missed Kaopectate dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if this is near time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

Kaopectate Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. liquid may be stored in refrigerator to improve taste, but this isnot necessary. do not store at the bathroom.
