Bacitracin Polymyxin B Usage: this medication is used to treat eye infections.
How to use Bacitracin Polymyxin B: for best effects, this medication must be used as directed. Continue using this for full time prescribed. Stopping this drug too soon may not clear the infection & could possibly result in a reinfection. Apply eye ointment to the affected eyes as follows: Wash hands 1-st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye. Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a minute will make ointment flow easier. Tilt youre head back, gaze upward & pull down the lower eyelid to make pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeezing tube gently. Close eye & roll eyeball in all directions to spread the drug. Try not to blink & don't rub the eye. Wipe tip of ointment tube with a tissue to remove excess medication before capping it. If you are using an eye drop in addition to this medication, apply the eye drops 1-st and wait in least five minutes before applying this eye ointment. If you using other type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes after using this med before applying it.
Bacitracin Polymyxin B side effects: it medication may temporarily sting or burn youre eyes for minute or two when first applied. If it continues or becomes bothersome, inform youre pharmacist. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify your healthcare professional immediately if you develop: rash, itching or burning eyes, redness/pain or swelling in or around eyes, vision problems. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Bacitracin Polymyxin B Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: every eye problems, any allergies you may have. this medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. It's not known if it eye drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Bacitracin Polymyxin B medication interactions: Tell youre pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Bacitracin Polymyxin B Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Bacitracin Polymyxin B special notes: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after some days, consult your doctor.
If you missed Bacitracin Polymyxin B dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if It's near the time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. don't 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
Bacitracin Polymyxin B Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. cash expiration date on the tube & discard any expired medication.
