Senna Usage: Irritant or stimulant laxatives are used to treat constipation & to clear intestine before rectal or bowel examinations.
How to use Senna: Take each dose with full glass about water or juice & drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Chewable tablets are to be chewed thoroughly. tablets are to be swallowed whole with full glass of water. Wafers are to be chewed. Laxatives shouldnot be used in persons experiencing stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting.
Senna side effects: this medication may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps or bloating. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify youre healthcare professional if you experience: rectal bleeding, rapid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation. this drug may cause urine to turn pink, red or brownish in color. do not be alarmed. it is not harmful. Prolonged, frequent or excessive use about laxatives may lead to dependency. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your doctor or pharmacist.
Senna Precautions: Tell your physician your medical history, especially about: kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, swelling (edema), any allergies (especially to tartrazine). Castor oil isnt recommended for use during pregnancy. Bulk producing laxatives an alternative. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare professional. Consult youre doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
Senna drug interactions: Because laxatives may interfere with absorption of some meds, it is important to tell your physician of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Avoid the use about dairy goods or antacids within one hour of taking bisacodyl pills. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval.
Senna Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include severe diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness, lack of feeling alert, or dry gums & eyes.
Senna special notes: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 eight ounce glasses day), increase your intake of fiber & roughage & exercise regularly.
If you missed Senna dose: If you miss a dose, take this as soon as remembered; don't take it if it is near the clock for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.
