Bacitracin Polymyxin Usage: this medication is used to treat eye infections.
How to use Bacitracin Polymyxin: for best effects, this drug must be used as directed. Continue using it for full clock prescribed. Stopping it drug too soon may not clear infection and could possibly result in reinfection. Apply eye ointment to the affected eyes as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch tube tip or let it touch you're eye. Rolling ointment tube at your hands for a minute will make ointment flow easier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward & pull down lower eyelid to make pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch about ointment into pouch by squeezing the tube gently. Close eye & roll eyeball in all directions to spread the medication. Try not to blink & do not rub eye. Wipe tip of ointment tube with tissue to remove excess medication before capping it. If you using an eye drop in addition to this med, apply eye drops 1st & wait at least five minutes before applying this eye ointment. If you are using another type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes after using this med before applying it.
Bacitracin Polymyxin side effects: this medication may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or 2 when first applied. If it continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify some your doctor immediately if you develop: rash, itching or burning eyes, redness/pain or swelling in or around the eyes, vision problems. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Bacitracin Polymyxin Precautions: Tell you're doctor you're medical history, especially of: all eye problems, any allergies you may have. this drug must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with you're doctor. it is not known if it eye med is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Bacitracin Polymyxin drug interactions: Tell you're pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription med you may take. don't start or stop any medicine without physician or healthcare professional approval.
Bacitracin Polymyxin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Bacitracin Polymyxin special notes: If the condition for which it was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, consult you're physician.
If you missed Bacitracin Polymyxin dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; don't use it if it is near the time for following dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume you're usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Bacitracin Polymyxin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. USD expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
