Vancocin HCL Usage: it drug is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections.
How to use Vancocin HCL: this medication is diluted in fluid & injected slowly into a vein over 1 to 2 hour period. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Do it by using drug at evenly spaced intervals throughout day & night as prescribed. Continue to use it med until full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after few days. Stopping medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in relapse of infection.
Vancocin HCL side effects: it drug can cause diarrhea, stomach upset, nausea, or vomiting as some your body adjusts to the tablet. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. other side effects that have been reported with it drug include headache, trouble sleeping, swollen tongue, ringing at ears, tingling of hands or feet, fever, vaginal itching & dizziness. Inform your healthcare professional if these become bothersome. site where injection is given may be red and irritated for few days. Notify your pharmacist if irritation continues or becomes worse. in the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your pharmacist or pharmacist.
Vancocin HCL Precautions: Tell your healthcare professional your medical history, especially: kidney problems, hearing problems, severe diarrhea, any allergies. Vancomycin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your healthcare professional. Vancomycin is excreted into breast milk. Because effects on nursing infant are unknown, consult your physician before you breast-feed.
Vancocin HCL medication interactions: Tell your physician about all medications you may use (both prescription and nonprescription) especially: aminoglycosides (e.g., gentamicin, neomycin), amphotericin B, other antibiotics, live vaccines. If you will be undergoing treatment requiring anesthesia, tell the doctor/dentist you have been using vancomycin. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or healthcare professional approval.
Vancocin HCL Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Vancocin HCL special notes: Make sure needles, tubing & supplies stored safely & disposed of properly.
If you missed Vancocin HCL dose: Use any missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume some your regular schedule. do not 'double-up' dose.
Vancocin HCL Storage: Store dry powder vials in room temperature.
