    Acetic acid w/hydrocortisone - otic

    (uh-seet-ick acid with hi-dro-kor-tih-sown)

    common brand names: Acetasol HC, Vosol HC

    Otomycet HC Usage: Acetic acid has antibacterial & antifungal action. Hydrocortisone reduces swelling & relieves pain & itching. this drug is used to treat certain infections of the outer ear & ear canal.

    How to use Otomycet HC: for best effects, this pill must be used as directed. Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping it medication too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection. do not use this drug more often or continue to use it for longer then directed. Apply ear drops to the affected ears as follows: Wash hands 1st. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch dropper or let it touch youre ear. If medication has been refrigerated, hold bottle at your hand for several minutes to warm it. If the drops are a suspension (not solution), shake well for 10 seconds before using. Lie on your side or tilt affected ear up. Place dropper directly over ear and administer prescribed number of drops. To help drops roll into the ear, in adults, hold the earlobe up & back & in kid, hold earlobe down and back. Keep head tilted for of two minutes or insert soft cotton plug if directed to do so. don't rinse dropper. it medication may be administered using an ear wick. medication is applied to the ear wick which is then gently inserted into the ear as directed. Remove wick & instill prescribed number of drops (usually 5) 3 to 4 times day as prescribed.

    Otomycet HC side effects: this medication may temporarily sting or burn youre ear for a minute or two when 1'st applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your physician. Notify your healthcare professional immediately if you develop: a skin rash, itching/burning/redness/swelling or pain in or around ears. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Otomycet HC Precautions: Tell your pharmacist if you have: another infections, allergies. it drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor.

    Otomycet HC drug interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may take, especially: other ear drops. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or physician approval.

    Otomycet HC Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. it medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

    Otomycet HC special notes: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after few days, consult your doctor.

    If you missed Otomycet HC dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use this if It's near time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Otomycet HC Storage: Store at controlled room temperature between 68 to 77 degrees F (20-25 C) away from heat & light. Discard this if solution turns brown, cloudy or contains particles.
