Warning: Estrogens have been reported to increase the chance of womb (endometrial) cancer in women who have been through menopause, especially in gir with uterus who receive estrogen-only hormone therapy. Estrogens may also increase risk about cancer of the ovary or breast. Estrogen-containing products must not be used to prevent heart disease. Estrogen given in combination with another hormone (progestin) since replacement therapy can infrequently cause heart disease (e.g., heart attacks), stroke, serious blood clots (pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis), dementia, and cancer about breast. These risks appear to depend on length of time this drug is used and amount of estrogen per dose. Therefore, this drug should be used for the shortest possible length of time at the lowest effective dose so you obtain the benefits and minimize the chance of serious side effects from long-term treatment. If you use this drug since an extended period, you must be evaluated in least one time year. see Notes section. this medication is not effective in preventing or treating tendency toward miscarriages (natural habitual abortion) nor the threat about miscarriage. it medication must not be used during pregnancy because It's use may result in birth defects or cancer later in child's life. see Precautions section.

Estradiol Transdermal Patch Usage: this pill is female hormone & is usually given to women who no longer produce proper amount. it is used to reduce menopause symptoms (e.g., hot flashes, vaginal dryness), to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) in people at high risk, & to treat other conditions as determined by you're doctor. If you are only being treated for vaginal menopause symptoms, products applied locally such as vaginal creams, tablets, or rings should be considered before goods taken by mouth or absorbed through the skin. there are some drugs (e.g., raloxifene or bisphosphonates) that safe & effective to prevent or treat bone loss. These medicines should be considered for use before estrogen therapy. If you have another medical conditions as well and prescribed estrogens for more than one condition, consult your doctor about your treatment plan & it is options.
How to use Estradiol Transdermal Patch: One patch is usually worn since 1 week & then replaced, or use as directed by youre physician. Follow dosing schedule carefully. do not open sealed pouch container until ready to use. Open pouch and remove the patch from the protective liner. Apply the patch to clean, dry area on lower stomach or top about buttocks, pressing firmly since about 10 seconds to make sure patch stays on. don't place the patch on breast. Avoid applying to waistline since tight clothing may rub patch off. do not put patch on areas where sitting may loosen it. After 1 week, remove the patch and dispose of it properly. Apply a new patch to different area to prevent skin irritation. If region around patch becomes red, itchy, or irritated, try a new site. If irritation continues or becomes worse, notify you're pharmacist promptly. If a patch falls off, reapply this or apply a new patch & wear it for rest of 7-day period. Estradiol Transdermal Patch side effects: Dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, stomach upset, bloating, nausea, weight changes, increased/decreased interest in sex, breast tenderness, or skin redness/irritation at the application site may occur. If any about these persist or worsen, notify your physician or physician promptly. Tell some your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes (e.g., severe depression, memory loss), calf pain/swelling, sudden severe headache, chest pain, trouble breathing, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, vision changes (change in contact lens fit, loss of vision), breast lumps, swelling of hands or feet, changes in vaginal bleeding (e.g., spotting, breakthrough bleeding or prolonged bleeding), unusual vaginal discharge/itching/odor, yellowing of eyes or skin. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms about an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Estradiol Transdermal Patch Precautions: this medication shouldn't be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult you're physician or healthcare professional if you have: undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, certain cancers (e.g., breast cancer, especially non-metastatic type), blood clots, active/recent stroke or heart attack, liver disease. Before using it medication, tell you're healthcare professional or physician you're medical history, especially of: family medical history (especially breast lumps & cancer), asthma, diabetes, seizures, migraine headaches, heart disease (e.g., high blood pressure, heart attacks, congestive heart failure), kidney disease, low thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism), abnormal calcium level in blood, depression, HBP during pregnancy (toxemia), yellowing of eyes and skin (cholestatic jaundice) during pregnancy or with past estrogen use, womb problems (e.g., uterine fibroids, endometriosis), cholesterol or lipid problems, gallbladder disease, excessive weight gain, certain blood disorders (porphyria), any allergies. Before having surgery or if you require prolonged bedrest, tell the pharmacist that you take this drug. this drug may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. this med may cause patchy darkening about the skin on face (melasma). Sunlight may intensify this darkening & you may need to avoid prolonged sun exposure and sunlamps. Consult your doctor regarding use about sunscreens and protective clothing. Cigarette smoking can increase the chance of blood clots while taking this drug (especially at wemen over age of 35). If this medicine is used in children, there growth pattern should be monitored as it med might stunt their growth. this medication must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform you're healthcare professional immediately. this medication may pass into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Therefore, breast-feeding while using this med is not recommended.
Estradiol Transdermal Patch medication interactions: Before using this medication, tell your healthcare professional or pharmacist about all prescription & nonprescription goods you may use, especially of: corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), hydantoins (e.g., phenytoin), warfarin, medications which affect certain liver enzymes (CYP450-3A4 enzymes) such as azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), carbamazepine, macrolides (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), phenobarbital, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), ritonavir, cimetidine, St. John's Wort. it product can affect results of certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel & your healthcare professionals know you use it medication. do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Estradiol Transdermal Patch Overdose: If overdose is suspected, remove the patch. Contact some your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: severe nausea/vomiting or excessive vaginal bleeding.
Estradiol Transdermal Patch special notes: do not share this medication with others. Keep every appointments with your pharmacist & laboratory. You should have complete physical examination, including blood pressure measurements, breast and pelvic examinations, and PAP test (for vaginal cancer), at least once year. You should also have periodic mammograms as determined by you're doctor. Follow your doctor's instructions for examining your own breasts, and report any lumps immediately. If you missed Estradiol Transdermal Patch dose: If you miss a dose, use this as soon as you remember. If a patch falls off, apply a new patch & wear it for rest about the 7-day period, then resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Estradiol Transdermal Patch Storage: Store sealed pouches at room temperature below 86 F (30 degrees C) away from light & moisture. don't store in bathroom. Keep all medicines away from child and pets.
