    Estradiol weekly - transdermal

    (ess-truh-dye-all)

    Warning: Estrogens have been reported to increase the chance of womb (endometrial) cancer in women who have been through menopause, especially at women with uterus who receive estrogen-only hormone therapy. Estrogens may also increase risk of cancer of ovary or breast. Estrogen-containing products should not be used to prevent heart disease. Estrogen given in combination with another hormone (progestin) for replacement therapy can infrequently cause heart disease (e.g., heart attacks), stroke, serious blood clots (pulmonary embolism & deep venous thrombosis), dementia, & cancer about the breast. These risks appear to depend on length of time this drug is used & the amount about estrogen per dose. Therefore, it drug should be used for the shortest possible length of time at the lowest effective dose so you obtain benefits & minimize the chance of serious side effects from long-term treatment. Consult your pharmacist or physician for details. If you use this medication since an extended period, you should be evaluated at least once a year. see Notes section. this pill isn't effective in preventing or treating a tendency toward miscarriages (natural habitual abortion) nor the threat about miscarriage. this drug must not be used during pregnancy because It's use may result in birth defects or cancer later in the child's life. look Precautions section.

    Simular Drugs : Estradiol, Estradiol, Estradiol Transdermal Patch

    Estradiol Usage: this drug is a female hormone and is usually given to women who no longer produce the proper amount. it is used to reduce menopause symptoms (e.g., hot flashes, vaginal dryness), to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) in human at high risk, and to treat other conditions as determined by you're physician. If you are only being treated for vaginal menopause symptoms, products applied locally such as vaginal creams, tablets, or rings should be considered before goods taken by mouth or absorbed through the skin. there are few medications (e.g., raloxifene or bisphosphonates) that safe and effective to prevent or treat bone loss. These medicines should be considered for use before estrogen therapy. If you have other medical conditions as well & prescribed estrogens for more then one condition, consult some your doctor about your treatment plan & It's options.

    How to use Estradiol: One patch is usually worn for 1 week & then replaced, or use as directed by youre physician. Follow the dosing schedule carefully. do not open sealed pouch container until ready to use. Open the pouch & remove patch from the protective liner. Apply patch to a clean, dry area on the lower stomach or top of buttocks, pressing firmly for about 10 seconds to make sure patch stays on. do not place patch on breast. Avoid applying to the waistline since tight clothing may rub patch off. do not put the patch on areas where sitting may loosen it. After 1 week, remove patch and dispose about it properly. Apply new patch to different area to prevent skin irritation. If area around patch becomes red, itchy, or irritated, try a new site. If irritation continues or becomes worse, notify you're pharmacist promptly. If patch falls off, reapply it or apply new patch and wear it for the rest of 7-day period. Read Patient information Leaflet available from some your healthcare professional. Consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist if you have any questions.

    Estradiol side effects: Dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, stomach upset, bloating, nausea, weight changes, increased/decreased interest in sex, breast tenderness, or skin redness/irritation at the application site may occur. If any of these persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell some your physician immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes (e.g., severe depression, memory loss), calf pain/swelling, sudden severe headache, chest pain, trouble breathing, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, vision changes (change in contact lens fit, loss of vision), breast lumps, swelling of hands or feet, changes at vaginal bleeding (e.g., spotting, breakthrough bleeding or prolonged bleeding), unusual vaginal discharge/itching/odor, yellowing of eyes or skin. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Estradiol Precautions: this drug should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your pharmacist or pharmacist if you have: undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, certain cancers (e.g., breast cancer, especially non-metastatic type), blood clots, active/recent stroke or heart attack, liver disease. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially about: family medical history (especially breast lumps & cancer), asthma, diabetes, seizures, migraine headaches, heart disease (e.g., high blood pressure, heart attacks, congestive heart failure), kidney disease, low thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism), abnormal calcium level in blood, depression, high blood pressure during pregnancy (toxemia), yellowing about eyes & skin (cholestatic jaundice) during pregnancy or with past estrogen use, womb problems (e.g., uterine fibroids, endometriosis), cholesterol or lipid problems, gallbladder disease, excessive weight gain, certain blood disorders (porphyria), any allergies. Before having surgery or if you require prolonged bedrest, tell the physician that you take this tablet. this tablet may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. it drug may cause a patchy darkening about skin on the face (melasma). Sunlight may intensify it darkening and you may need to avoid prolonged sun exposure & sunlamps. Consult youre healthcare professional regarding use of sunscreens & protective clothing. Cigarette smoking can increase the chance of blood clots while taking this drug (especially in women over the age of 35). If it medicine is used in kid, their growth pattern must be monitored as this medication might stunt their growth. this drug must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your physician immediately. it medication may pass into breast milk & may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Therefore, breast-feeding while using this med isn't recommended.

    Estradiol drug interactions: Before using this medication, tell youre physician or pharmacist of every prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially about: corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), hydantoins (e.g., phenytoin), warfarin, tablets which affect certain liver enzymes (CYP450-3A4 enzymes) such as azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), carbamazepine, macrolides (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin), phenobarbital, rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), ritonavir, cimetidine, St. John's Wort. this product can affect the results of certain lab tests. Make sure laboratory personnel & youre healthcare professionals know you use this drug. don't start or stop any medicine with out healthcare professional or doctor approval.

    Estradiol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, remove the patch. Contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe nausea/vomiting or excessive vaginal bleeding.

    Estradiol special notes: don't share this medication with others. Keep all appointments with youre healthcare professional & laboratory. You should have a complete physical examination, including blood pressure measurements, breast & pelvic examinations, and PAP test (for vaginal cancer), at least one time a year. You must also have periodic mammograms as determined by your pharmacist. Follow you're doctor's instructions for examining your own breasts, and report any lumps immediately. Non-drug therapy to help prevent bone loss includes a weight-bearing exercise plan and adequate daily calcium & vitamin D. Consult you're physician or healthcare professional for more details.

    If you missed Estradiol dose: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If a patch falls off, apply a new patch & wear it for rest about the 7-day period, then resume you're usual dosing schedule. don't double dose to catch up.

    Estradiol Storage: Store the sealed pouches at room temperature below 86 F (30 degrees C) away from light & moisture. do not store in bathroom. Keep every medicines away from children & pets.
