Bacitracin Usage: it medication is used to treat or prevent eye infections.
How to use Bacitracin: since best effects, this medication must be used as directed. Continue using it for full clock prescribed. Stopping it medication too soon may not clear the infection & could possibly result in a reinfection. Apply eye ointment to the affected eyes as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye. Rolling ointment tube in your hands for minute will make ointment flow easier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward & pull down lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeezing the tube gently. Close the eye & roll eyeball in every directions to spread tablet. Try not to blink and don't rub the eye. Wipe tip of ointment tube with a tissue to remove excess pill before capping it. If you are using an eye drop at addition to this medication, apply eye drops first & wait at least five minutes before applying this eye ointment. If you using other type of eye ointment, wait in least ten minutes after using this medication before applying this.
Bacitracin side effects: this med may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when first applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your pharmacist. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify youre doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, itching/burning/redness/pain/swelling in or around eyes, vision problems. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or physician.
Bacitracin Precautions: Tell your doctor if you have: other eye problems, allergies (especially allergies to antibiotics or sulfites). this drug must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss risks & benefits with your healthcare professional.
Bacitracin med interactions: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drug you may use, especially of: other eye medications. do not start or stop any medicine without healthcare professional or pharmacist approval.
Bacitracin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. this medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
Bacitracin special notes: If condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a several days, consult your physician.
If you missed Bacitracin dose: If you miss dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the clock for next dose, instead, skip the missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' dose to catch up.
Bacitracin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. money the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
