Kanamycin Sulfate Usage: Kanamycin is an antibiotic used for the short-term treatment of certain bacterial infections.
How to use Kanamycin Sulfate: Follow every instructions for proper mixing & dilution with the correct IV fluids. If you have questions regarding use about this medication, consult your healthcare professional. Give this med by vein (IV) or directly into muscle (IM) as directed by your physician. Depending on your medical condition, you may receive it drug by another route (e.g., topically or inhaled). the dosage & length of treatment is based on your medical condition & response to therapy. Antibiotics work best when amount of medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Therefore, give drug at evenly spaced intervals. Continue to use this drug until fully-prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after few days. Stopping medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of infection. To minimize serious side effects, do not use more than 1.5 grams daily of this medication or use this medication for longer than seven to 10 days, unless directed by your doctor. Before using, USD it product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use liquid. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Kanamycin Sulfate side effects: Headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or pain at the injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify youre doctor promptly. Tell your physician immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: changes in hearing, feeling of fullness or ringing at the ears, dizziness, eye/vision problems, loss of appetite, tingling or numbness of the skin/hands/feet, seizures, weakness, muscle cramps, tremors, persistent fever, change in amount of urine, bloody or pink-colored urine. An allergic reaction to this med is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. Use of this med for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral or vaginal fungal infection). Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in you're mouth, change in vaginal discharge, or any other new symptoms. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact youre doctor or pharmacist.
Kanamycin Sulfate Precautions: Tell youre pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, severe burns, cystic fibrosis, muscle problems (e.g., myasthenia gravis, Parkinson's disease, botulism), dehydration, ear/hearing problems or problems with balance (vestibular problems), any allergies (especially to sulfites or to aminoglycosides such as gentamicin or streptomycin). Caution is advised when using this med at young infants because they may be more sensitive to effects of this drug (e.g., can cause kidney problems). Kanamycin Sulfate drug interactions: Tell some your healthcare professional of all prescription & nonprescription medication you may use, especially: penicillin antibiotics (e.g., penicillin, ampicillin), cephalosporin antibiotics (e.g., cefazolin, cefotetan), acyclovir, vancomycin, amphotericin B, bacitracin, colistin, cisplatin, cyclosporine, drugs since water loss (diuretics such as furosemide, ethacrynic acid, or mannitol), anesthesia or muscle relaxing agents (e.g., succinylcholine, tubocurarine), certain blood products (citrate- anticoagulated blood), anti-nausea drugs (e.g., dimenhydrinate), aspirin and/or NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen). do not start or stop any medicine with-out doctor or pharmacist approval.
Kanamycin Sulfate Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: ringing in ears, change in amount about urine.
Kanamycin Sulfate special notes: do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor for side effects & response to treatment.
If you missed Kanamycin Sulfate dose: If you miss a dose or you're dose is interrupted, contact youre physician or healthcare professional immediately to establish new dosing schedule.
Kanamycin Sulfate Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. After dilution in correct IV fluids (consult youre physician for details), drug is stable in room temperature for 24 hours. Discard any unused liquid.
