Osmitrol Usage: Mannitol is used to increase urine production (diuretic). this is used to treat or prevent medical conditions that are caused by an increase in body fluids/water (e.g., cerebral edema, glaucoma, kidney failure). it drug is frequently given along with another diuretics (e.g., furosemide, chlorothiazide) and/or IV fluid replacement.

Osmitrol canbe used also for: it med may also be used, along with other diuretics, to help remove certain drugs/poisons from body (e.g., aspirin, barbiturates, bromides, carbon monoxide)

How to use Osmitrol: small test dose about it med may be given as directed by some your doctor. it small test dose should help determine your response to treatment. Give this tablet by vein (IV) exactly as directed by your physician. the dosage is based on your weight, medical condition, and response to treatment. it medication may contain small particles at the IV solution. it is very important to use an IV filter while giving this solution. Consult your pharmacist for proper IV filter & Its instructions for use. Under certain conditions (e.g., cool temperatures), crystals may form in this medication. Although these crystals don't affect drug solution, crystals must be dissolved before using this product. Consult your doctor since more guide. Before using check this product for particles or discoloration. If either is present do not use the liquid. Learn how to store & discard needles & medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.

Osmitrol side effects: Headache, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, dry mouth, & irritation/pain/swelling at injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician promptly. Tell your pharmacist immediately if any about these serious side effects occur: blurred vision, change in amount of urine, back pain. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes, trouble breathing, slow or shallow breathing, unusual swelling. Tell some your physician immediately if any about these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: uncontrolled muscle movements (tremor), seizures, chest pain, black/dead-looking skin (necrosis). An allergic reaction to it drug is unlikely, but seek immeditial medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician or pharmacist.

Osmitrol Precautions: Tell some your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, liver problems (e.g., cirrhosis), heart disease, lung or breathing problems (e.g., pulmonary edema), nervous system problems, chemical disorders (e.g., acid/base balance, electrolyte disorders), any allergies. it tablet must be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with your doctor. It's not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your pharmacist before breast-feeding.

Osmitrol tablet interactions: Tell your healthcare professional of every prescription & nonprescription medication you may use, especially: lithium, aminoglycoside antibiotics (e.g., gentamicin, kanamycin, tobramycin). do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or doctor approval.

Osmitrol Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact youre local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include: decrease in amount of urine, seizures, severe trouble breathing.

Osmitrol special notes: do not share this med with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., renal function, fluid/electrolytes balance) may be performed to monitor your progress.

If you missed Osmitrol dose: If youre dose is interrupted or stopped, consult some your pharmacist to establish a new dosing schedule/IV rate.

Osmitrol Storage: Store at room temperature between 56 & 86 degrees F (13 to 30 degrees C) away from light. do not refrigerate or freeze.
