    Colistimethate Sodium Usage: Colistimethate is an antibiotic used to treat wide variety of serious bacterial infections (e.g., gram negative infections such as Pseudomonas or Klebsiella).

    How to use Colistimethate Sodium: Follow every instructions for the proper mixing, dilution with the correct IV fluids, & dosing schedule. If you have any questions regarding the use of it tablet, consult your physician. 1 time the mixing solution has been added to the vial, gently swirl or roll vial back and forth between you're hands. don't shake vial. Before using, money it product visually for any unusual particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Inject this medication into vein (IV) or into muscle (IM) as directed by your doctor. dosage and length of treatment is based on your weight, medical condition, & response to therapy. don't mix this drug to be used at later clock. Only use freshly mixed vials and/or IV solutions. Antibiotics work best when the amount about medicine in your body is kept at constant level. Therefore, give this tablet at evenly spaced intervals. Continue to use it medication until fully-prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping med too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result at a relapse of infection. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your healthcare professional.

    Colistimethate Sodium side effects: Nausea/vomiting, itching, & rash may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, notify your healthcare professional promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: tingling or numbness in the arms/legs or tongue, slurred speech, dizziness, fever, lightheadedness, trouble breathing, change (decrease) in amount of urine, diarrhea. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in secondary infection (e.g., oral or vaginal fungal infection). Contact your healthcare professional if you notice white patches in your mouth, change in vaginal discharge, or other new symptoms. If you notice any other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.

    Colistimethate Sodium Precautions: Tell youre healthcare professional some your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, any allergies. this med may make you dizzy or drowsy. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Caution is advised when using this drug in elderly because they may be more sensitive to effects of the drug. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks & benefits with youre healthcare professional. Based on following following text for similar medications, it medication may pass into breast milk. Therefore, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    Colistimethate Sodium drug interactions: this medication isn't recommended since use with aminoglycoside antibiotics (e.g., gentamicin, tobramycin), polymyxin, or sodium cephalothin. Using it medication with these goods can cause serious nerve side effects or kidney problems. Ask your doctor or healthcare professional for more details. Tell your pharmacist of all prescription & nonprescription tablet you may use, especially: certain muscle relaxants (e.g., curare-like drugs such as decamethonium, either, gallamine, sodium citrate, succinylcholine, or tubocurarine), live vaccines (e.g., oral polio vaccine). do not start or stop any medicine without physician or doctor approval.

    Colistimethate Sodium Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact you're local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: loss of coordination, uncontrolled eye movements (nystagmus), confusion, severe trouble breathing.

    Colistimethate Sodium special notes: this medication has been prescribed since your current condition only. do not use this later for another infection unless told to do so by your doctor. different med may be necessary at those cases. don't share it medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., creatinine, BUN) will be performed to monitor your progress.

    If you missed Colistimethate Sodium dose: If you miss dose, use this as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of following dose, skip missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.

    Colistimethate Sodium Storage: Store the unmixed/powder vials at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C). do not freeze. once mixed, suspension is good for 7 days & should be refrigerated between 36 & 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C). After mixing & subsequent dilution with IV fluids, this product is stable at room temperature or refrigerated (below 77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) for 24 hours.
