    Phenylephrine/codeine/chlorpheniramine/potassium idodide oral

    (fen-ill-eff-rin/ko-deen/klor-fen-ir-uh-meen/poh-tass-ee-um eye-oh-dyed)

    common brand names: Pediacof, Pedituss

    Pedituss Usage: this combination product contains a decongestant, low-dose narcotic, antihistamine & an ingredient that may help loosen mucous. It's used to treat a cough & relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.

    How to use Pedituss: it medication is best taken with full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water after a meal or snack. Take this drug as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often then directed.

    Pedituss side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or anxiety may occur 1-st several days as your body adjusts to pill. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify youre doctor if you develop any of following effects while taking it pill: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, HBP, painful or difficult urination, tremors, nervousness, trouble sleeping, mental confusion. To avoid dizziness & lightheadedness when rising from seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake about alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to feel drowsy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    Pedituss Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease (e.g., asthma, emphysema), high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, a history about drug dependency, any allergies. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor. since small amounts about this medication found in breast milk, consult your healthcare professional before breast-feeding.

    Pedituss drug interactions: Tell your pharmacist of any over-the-counter or prescription tablet you may take including any medication for: blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disease, depression. Also, tell your physician if you take any of these medications: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), cimetidine, narcotic pain drugs (e.g., codeine). do not start or stop any medicine without physician or healthcare professional approval.

    Pedituss Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, irregular heartbeat, shaking, numbness or tingling in arms or legs, hot or cold skin, slowed breathing, big and unchanging pupils, & deep sleep or loss of consciousness.

    Pedituss special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this drug. it will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.

    If you missed Pedituss dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take this if it is near the time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not 'double-up' the dose to catch up.

    Pedituss Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in bathroom.
