Guaifenesin/dextromethorphan/decongestant - oral
Tri Vent DM Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses a cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. it combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Tri Vent DM: it drug is best taken with full glass of water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets and capsules whole. don't crush or chew them because long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased. Take this medication as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Tri Vent DM side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your physician if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice another effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Tri Vent DM Precautions: Tell your pharmacist some your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any pill allergies. bucks this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your healthcare professional promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. this drug may be excreted into breast milk. Consult some your physician before breast-feeding.
Tri Vent DM drug interactions: Tell you're doctor of every prescription & nonprescription drugs you use, especially: drug for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking it drug. do not start or stop any medicine without pharmacist or physician approval.
Tri Vent DM Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements about eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or quick heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Tri Vent DM special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. it will help to break up mucus and clear congestion.
If you missed Tri Vent DM dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if this is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double the dose to catch up.
Tri Vent DM Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
