Medi Tussin Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination medication is used to treat cough & relieve symptoms associated with common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Medi Tussin: this pill is best taken with a full glass about water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting meds & capsules whole. don't crush or chew them because the long action will be destroyed & chance about side effects will be increased. Take this medication as prescribed. don't increase your dose or take it more often than directed.
Medi Tussin side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any about these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your healthcare professional or pharmacist.
Medi Tussin Precautions: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, HBP, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any med allergies. check this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks and benefits with your physician. this drug may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Medi Tussin medication interactions: Tell your doctor of every prescription and nonprescription meds you use, especially: drug for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake about alcoholic beverages while taking this drug. do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or physician approval.
Medi Tussin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms about overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Medi Tussin special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking it tablet. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Medi Tussin dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take it if this is near time for next dose, instead, skip missed dose & resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Medi Tussin Storage: Store at room temperature between 59 & 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. don't store in the bathroom.
