Benylin Usage: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. this combination medication is used to treat a cough and relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis & other respiratory illnesses.
How to use Benylin: it drug is best taken with a full glass about water after meal or snack. Swallow long acting tablets & capsules whole. don't crush or chew them because the long action will be destroyed & the chance of side effects will be increased. Take this tablet as prescribed. do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed.
Benylin side effects: Mild dizziness, mild drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform some your physician. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, painful or difficult urination, tremors, extreme nervousness, trouble sleeping. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact some your healthcare professional or physician.
Benylin Precautions: Tell your pharmacist your medical history, especially: kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, hypertension, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, any medication allergies. USD this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). the FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if this contains PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. this drug should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss risks & benefits with your doctor. it drug may be excreted into breast milk. Consult you're doctor before breast-feeding.
Benylin pill interactions: Tell your doctor of all prescription & nonprescription meds you use, especially: medication for blood pressure, MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, procarbazine, selegiline), sibutramine, narcotic pain medicines (e.g., codeine, morphine). Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking it drug. do not start or stop any medicine without physician or doctor approval.
Benylin Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, loss of coordination, unusual movements of the eyes, slow or shallow breathing, unconsciousness, slurred speech, change in behavior, convulsions, unusual slow or fast heartbeat, chest pain, increased thirst, fatigue, muscle weakness, headache, fever, chills, large pupils, anxiety, sweating, or tremors.
Benylin special notes: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. this will help to break up mucus & clear congestion.
If you missed Benylin dose: If you miss dose, take it as soon as remembered; don't take this if it is near the time since the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. do not double dose to catch up.
Benylin Storage: Store in room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat & light. do not store in the bathroom.
